Subdepartment of Spanish and Italian philology (the Head of subdepartment, Professor Academician in A.S. HSU, Academician in APSS (Russia) N.M.Korbozerova).

The experts in Spanish language and literature has been trained at Taras Schevchenko`s Kyiv National University since 1049. And as the separate branch of the department the subdepartment of Spanish and Italian philology has exists 30 years.

Now the department ia training lecturers – researchers in foreign languagies (Spanish, Italian, English and the third one) and foreign literature, translators and interpreters from Spanish, Italian, English languages. The Portuguese and the Catalan languages were introduced in the process of teaching. Foreign languages are tought according to up-to-date methods and tuition methodology with use of audio- and video equipment.
At the department are working now such famous in Ukraine specialists with the highest qualification as: Assistant Professor O.M. Huseynova, I.I. Magushinets`, S.O. Ryzvanyk, E.V. Shevkun; C.P.S. O.V. Kruglikova, C.P.S. V.I. Ohimenko, C.P.S. O.V. Merzlikina and also Senior Lecturer V.M. Vyshnevskiy, Lecturers V.I. Hripstsov, O.P. Obruchnikova are worked at the department. The department is the foundator of collected volume of academic works “ Problem of semantics, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics”.

Subdepartment of Spanish and Italian philology is the centre of academic research in Ukraine. According to the subdepartment`s scheme, specifics of Spainish and Italian languages are learned in detail. Important topics of such as linguistic semantics, pragmalinguistics, cognitive linguistics are developed, peculiarities of modern Spainish, Italian, Portuguese and Metropolian languages, and also historical factor are being learned, that influenced its develop. The comperative analysis of Romance languages is made and parallel between Romance languages and Ukrainian language is found. Among the department`s editions are monograph wrote by Prof. N.M. Magushinstsay “Introduction into rhetoric” (K., 2003), “Introduction to italianistic” (K., 2004).

Throughout many years the department has a possibility to welcome lecturers from the spanish and italian embassy. Centre was established of Italian and Spanish languages. This branch has wide internatonal relations with foreign countries – Spain, Italy, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal. Within the agreement between Kyiv National University and Grenadian (Spain) and Florentine (Italy) universities every year Ukrainian students undergo a training in leading establishment of higher education this countries.

A lecturer in Spanish. In 1979 she graduated from Kyiv National University, the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology. She has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Spanish and Italian Philology.
Hanna Symonivna Vicente-Rives (9.04.1926, the village of Pradecon, Logrono province, Spain).
In 1949 she graduated from the First State Pedagogical Institute of Moscow for Foreign Languages, the Sub -department of Romance Philology. In 1949-65 she worked as a senior lecturer in Spanish at the Kyiv Institute for Foreign Languages. 1965-71 she worked as a lecturer, a senior lecturer in the Romance culture at the Kyiv National University. 1971-85 she worked as a senior lecturer at the Sub-department of Translation Studies. In 1985 she went back to Spain.
She translated a series of fiction works from Ukrainian into Spanish for the publishing house“Mystetstvo”: “Ukraina Teatral’na”(1966), “Velyky Kamenyar” (1967), and also a series of essays in Spanish for the publishing house of Kyiv Institute for Scientific Information.
Inna Mykhaylivna Zvada (6.09.1933, city of Zaporizhzhia).
She graduated from Kyiv National Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages, the Department of the Spanish Language (1955).
She worked at school, at nursery school, at the Soviet Academic and Research Institute for Pedagogy. In 1962-72 she worked as a lab assistant and a translator at the Sub-department of Romance Philology at Kyiv National University. In 1972-86 she worked as a lecturer, a senior lecturer at the Sub-department of Spanish Philology.
Valeriya Igorivna Okhrimenko (24.11.1975, city of Kerch, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea).
Candidate of Philology, Assistant. In 1997 she graduated from Kyiv National Linguistic University, Department of the Spanish Language. In 2002 she presented her candidate thesis “Linguistic, cognitive and pragmatic aspects of argumentation in the Spanish advertising”. Since that time she has been working as an assistant at the Sub-department of Spanish and Italian Philology.
She read such theoretical courses as “Discourse of variation”, “Business Spanish”, “Relevant problems of Romance Studies”.
Research areas: linguistic pragmatics, cognitive studies, synergy.
She is the author of 16 academic publications.
Ivan Ivanovych’ Magushynets’ (born 15.06.1946, in the village of Lybohora, Skolivs’ky district, Lviv oblast`).
Candidate of Philology, Associate Prof.. In 1969 he graduated from Kyiv National University, Department of Romance and Germanic Philology. Since that time he has been working as a secretary at the department for international relations, a lecturer, a senior lecturer, Associate Prof. at Sub-department of Romance Philology. He was Deputy Director of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, the head of the trade union committee of the Department, the manager of the office for international relations (1984-86). He presented his candidate thesis “Formation and development of inchoative constructions in the Spanish Language” (1975).
His academic interests are connected with comparative and historical research of the Romance languages and their simultaneous studies. Under his supervision twelve candidate theses were presented. He received 10 awards from the Vice-chancellor of the University.
Yuzefa Adamivna Kochubyns’ka-Smychkovs’ka (born 22.10.1929, in the village of Potatshnya, Hoynyks’kiy district, Homel’s’ka oblast`, Belorussia).
In 1952 she graduated from the Leningrad (now Saint-Petersburg) National University. In 1952-60 she was a lecturer in Spanish and German.
From 1960 was a lecturer, Associate Prof. of German at Kyiv National Economy Institute. She was an initiator of teaching Spanish at the Institute and its first lecturer.
Since 1972 she has been the head of the Sub-department of Spanish Philology at Kyiv National University. She had been in office for 11 years, since 1983 – Associate Prof. at the Sub-department.
Three candidate theses were presented under her supervision.
Alla Oleksandrivna Ivanyts’ka (born 19.10.1928, Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya oblast`).
She is Candidate of Philology, Associate Prof. In 1950 she graduated from the First Leningrad (now Saint-Petersburg) Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages.1963 she was a post-graduate at the Taras Shevchenko Literature Institute within the Soviet Academy of Science. Since 1952 she has worked as a lecturer in Spanish and German. In 1963-68 she was Associate Prof. at Kyiv National University, the Sub-department of Spanish Philology. In 1980 she presented her candidate thesis “Borrowing Foreign Vocabulary and its Development”.
She is the author of many academic publications on the Spanish linguistics. She received a medal.
Olena Volodymyrivna Kruglykova (born 31.01.1975, in Kyiv).
Candidate of Philology. She graduated from Kyiv National University, Department of Foreign Philology (1997), in 2001 she finished her post-graduate studies.
Since 2001 she has read courses on the Spanish and Italian linguistics (the Italian language and literature, county-specific studies). In 2002 she presented candidate thesis “The transformation of an educational novel in the Italian literature of the 20th century”.
She is the author of 6 academic publications.
