Cherednychenko Oleksandr Ivanovych

Cherednychenko Oleksandr Ivanovych was born on the 15th of June 1947 in Kyiv. Linguist and translator, Doctor of Philology (1984), professor (1985), academician (1992). In 1971 graduated from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (diploma with honors), certificates form the Bordeaux University (1977), Grenoble University (1986) and Paris International University of Management (1988). Since 1971 has been working at Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University: assistant, senior lecturer (1976), associate professor (1977), dean of the Romanian-Germanic sub-department (1977 – 1981), head of the theory and practice of translation sub-department (1979 – 1981), senior research co-worker (1981 – 1983), director of sub-department of the theory and practice of translation from Romanian languages (since 1983), dean of the Department of foreign philology (1992 – 2001).

Major directions in scientific and pedagogical activity: works in the field of common and Romanian linguistic, sociolinguistic, contrastive linguistic, history and theory of translation. Originated the theory of variation of languages in international context, substantially developed and implemented the theories of speech contacts and translation. The professor has established his own school of linguistic and translation.
