Students’ feedback about the internship in Vietnam
Having studied Vietnamese for only one year, it was hard for me to decide whether to go to Vietnam for an internship right away or wait for a while and improve my skills in Ukraine. After arriving in Vietnam, frankly, I have never regretted making this choice. Life in Vietnam is not only a great life experience, but also a chance to get to know yourself better and discover your potential. I am certain that studying at the university, communicating with native speakers, and learning about Vietnamese culture will help me learn Vietnamese.

For me, Vietnam is about the taste of refreshing nước miá and delicious cà phê sữa, the warm waves of the sea and velvet mountain tops; bustling streets and an abundance of sweet mangoes, lychees, papayas and bananas. There is nothing better than sitting at a small table, drinking trà đá and watching the traffic on the street.
Vietnamese people are friendly, generous people who will strike up a sincere conversation with you on occasion and give you a warm smile. Here I forgot about despair and monotonous days: a trip around the city always turns into visits to picturesque parks and lakes, ancient temples, and themed museums. Vietnam is a snowy Sapa, a mystical Halong, the royal city of Hue and a sunny Mui Ne, which beckon you to come here and think about how beautiful life can be.

Students’ feedback on learning Vietnamese at the Educational and Research Institute of Philology
I have been learning Vietnamese for 2 years now. During these two years, we have managed to master as much knowledge as we learned in 10 years of studying English at school. And this is all because our university has the best teachers with a vast pool of knowledge. Many of my friends didn’t even know about the existence of such a language, but I am very glad that we are the ones who are pioneering this unusual language. The future development of its study and research in Ukraine lies on our shoulders. I am very excited to learn Vietnamese, talk to native speakers, organize joint events with them and delve into the culture of this amazing country! Tôi yêu Việt Nam!

By learning Vietnamese with native speakers, we get to know the culture of Vietnam and understand more about the country’s history. All the events held at our university bring the Vietnamese and Ukrainian people closer together, giving an incentive to be curious about the country, as well as admire it.

It’s no secret that students of Oriental languages are often asked: ‘Is it difficult to learn such an unusual language?’. At first glance, learning Vietnamese is quite a challenge. I won’t deny it, because it really is. However, it’s easy to overcome any difficulties if you have professional help. Our university employs really talented people, and I am sincerely grateful to them. Learning all the subtleties of the language has turned into a fascinating process, full of interesting exercises, professional methods and a lot of useful information about the customs and traditions of the Vietnamese people. In addition, not every philology student can be proud of the fact that they have studied the language with native speakers, while students of our speciality work daily with teachers who speak Vietnamese as their native language. During classes, language learning is always combined with mastering its practical application. Thus, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the multifaceted culture of Vietnam with all its peculiarities while staying in the classroom.

I enjoy learning Vietnamese, I like teachers who can explain the material in an accessible and understandable way. For many Ukrainians nowadays, Vietnam remains a big mystery (some don’t even know where Vietnam is), so many will ask themselves: ‘Why should I learn Vietnamese?’. In my opinion, each Eastern country is unique in its own way, and I am very glad that at our university people have the opportunity to learn more about the culture and history of many Eastern countries and to learn the languages of these countries. I hope that the interest in Vietnamese language and culture will only grow every year and there will be more institutions that will allow us to learn more about Vietnam.
