About Us
The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific Readings in Memory of the Fallen Orientalists” is an annual academic event held at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv during the first decade of May. It brings together the work of scholars, educators, and young researchers dedicated to the pressing issues of modern Oriental Studies.
This conference holds special significance: it aims not only to unite the academic community around problems of philology, translation studies, and the linguodidactics of languages and literatures of the East, but also to honor the memory of students and faculty members – Orientalists and patriots of Ukraine, who gave their lives defending its independence. Highlighting their sacrifice within an academic framework has become a symbol of preserving historical memory and scientific responsibility.
Conference presentations and published proceedings represent a wide range of research approaches to Asian languages and literatures, cutting-edge educational technologies, intercultural communication, and socio-cultural processes within the Asian region. Contributors represent both leading Ukrainian institutions and international research centers, underscoring the international nature of the event and the relevance of its themes.
