This center is the newest addition to the Department of Slavic Philology. It was established in 2020 with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ukraine, the Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia, and the sponsorship of the Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Croatia in Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, and Donetsk.
The creation of this center represents a natural progression of the long-standing and fruitful collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ukraine, the Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia, and the University of Zagreb.
The Center was established to enhance relations between Ukraine and Croatia in the areas of education, science, literature, and culture. Its goals include providing optimal conditions for studying Croatian language and literature, strengthening academic collaboration with Croatian universities and institutions, coordinating cooperation under the Erasmus+ program with the University of Zagreb, and serving as a platform for meetings with prominent scholars, poets, writers, translators, and cultural figures from both Croatia and Ukraine.
The center has its own library and media collection, which is open to all interested visitors.
It is headed by O. Dziuba-Pohrebnyak, PhD in Philology.
