The Center was established in 2017 to enhance students’ knowledge and engagement in literary creativity. It functions as a structural unit of the Institute of Philology.
The Center’s primary objective is to organize and coordinate the creative activities of the Maksym Rylsky Literary Studio, thematic evenings dedicated to various literary genres, presentations of new literary developments, and creative meetings between students and prominent artists (music, film, and theatre). It also aims to foster close cooperation with creative associations, particularly with the National Union of Writers of Ukraine.
The Center engages student writers in various cultural projects at the University. In collaboration with the Department of History of Ukrainian Literature, Literary Theory and Literary Creativity, it prepares the student literary almanac “Svi-y-tanok” for publication. The annual literary competition “Zhyva troianda” is also organised by the Center. Its activities include career guidance aimed at selecting applicants for the Creative Writing programme, and it fosters strong connections with creative associations affiliated with the Kyiv branch of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine and regional writers’ organizations. The Center also holds a philological seminar and publishes the annual collection Philological Seminars.
The Center is headed by M. Naienko, Doctor of Philology, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, and laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.
