The Center was established in 2001 under the Agreement on the Establishment of the Center for Spanish Language and Culture between Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine) and the University of Granada (Spain).
The Center aims to promote the study of the Spanish language and the culture of Spain, as well as to facilitate the exchange of academic, scientific, professional, and cultural information.
The Center’s activities include organising regular meetings with native Spanish speakers through lectures, seminars, debates, conferences, cultural evenings, presentations, and competitions. It also offers translation internships for students studying Spanish as their first or second foreign language. In collaboration with the Embassy of Spain and the Cervantes Institute, the Center participates annually in organising the international Spanish language proficiency exams (DELE), and hosts meetings between academic staff, students, and representatives from the embassies of Spain and Latin American countries to celebrate national holidays.
The Center provides facilities for the independent study of the Spanish language, including access to relevant literature and technical resources. A library is open daily for the University students, postgraduate students, and lecturers.
In addition, the Center offers Spanish-language films and news. Film screenings are held daily from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and can also be arranged upon request for lecturers and students.
The Center is headed by O. Huseynova, PhD in Philology.
