The Center was established with the active support of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine. Its official opening occurred in 2013 and was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Margaryta Popova.
The Center focuses on strengthening Ukrainian-Bulgarian ties in education, science, literature, and culture. Its activities aim to create opportunities for enhanced study of the Bulgarian language and literature at universities, as well as to coordinate the work of Bulgarian language study hubs and cultural associations throughout Ukraine.
Each year, the Center celebrates important national dates in Bulgaria, such as the Day of the National Revival Leaders, the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, and Bulgaria’s Liberation Day, along with traditional folk holidays. These celebrations often include workshops on crafting traditional Bulgarian items like martenitsi and survachki. The Center also regularly hosts meetings with Bulgarian scholars, poets, writers, translators, and cultural figures.
The Center houses an extensive library, several sets of traditional Bulgarian folk costumes, and a photo archive.
The Director of the Center is Dr. O. Chmyr, PhD in Philology.
