The Center was established in 2001 with the support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ukraine.
The Center’s key objectives include training specialists, Chinese language teachers, and Sinologists for higher and secondary educational institutions in Ukraine; providing materials, information, and consultations on Chinese language teaching; reissuing textbooks and developing new textbooks and teaching aids; organising courses and lectures on the Chinese language, culture, history, politics, economy, sociology, and philosophy; holding meetings, symposia, conferences, summer schools, student Chinese language Olympiads, song competitions, and film and television festivals. With the support of both Ukrainian and Chinese partners, the Center also organises and administers Chinese language proficiency examinations.
The Center’s library collection includes books, as well as audio and video materials in Chinese.
Each year, delegations from the People’s Republic of China visit the Center. The Center provides consultations on language internships at Chinese higher education institutions and offers guidance on the HSK/HSKK qualification exams, which assess proficiency in written and spoken Chinese. These exams are conducted in cooperation with the Chinese Language Council International (Beijing).
The Center is headed by O. Vorobey, PhD in Philology.
