The Center was established in 2006 with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine to enhance the training system for specialists in Korean language and literature, improve research and teaching opportunities for lecturers and postgraduate students, create better conditions for independent study of Korean language and literature, and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Ukrainian and Korean peoples.
The language practice at the center is conducted at a high level by three native Korean speakers, each with extensive experience working with Ukrainian students. All Ukrainian teachers of the center have repeatedly participated in language training programs in the Republic of Korea.
Over the years, the lecturers have collectively published 108 articles, 12 manuals, 2 educational dictionaries, 1 monograph, and 6 translations.
The Center facilitates student exchange programs between the universities of the Republic of Korea and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Each semester, several Ukrainian students have the opportunity to participate in a language internship in Korea.
With the support of the Korea Foundation, the library of the Center receives the latest scientific, educational, and fiction literature in Korean, English, and Russian every year, along with audiovisual materials. The center runs and constantly updates its electronic library.
Each year, the Center takes part in organizing the All-Ukrainian Korean Language Olympiad and the international Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) for foreign learners.
To celebrate Hangul Day (Korean Alphabet Day), the Center, with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine and other organizations, hosts a variety of cultural and academic events. These events include a speech contest for Korean language students, lectures, academic conferences, cultural activities, and more.
The Center frequently invites guest lecturers from various universities, organizes meetings with employers, and provides career guidance for prospective students, presents new academic and educational publications, and conducts language workshops with native speakers.
