The center was established in 2003 with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Turkey (TIKA).
The center’s library is one of the largest in Ukraine, housing a collection of over 4,500 items in Turkish, Crimean Tatar, Azerbaijani, and Uzbek languages, including the Urums dialectal literature.
The center offers a speaking club, screens popular Turkish films, and hosts symposia and roundtable discussions on pressing issues in contemporary Turkic studies. It also organizes literary and poetry readings dedicated to exploring the works of Turkic writers, photo exhibitions, and workshops on Turkish and Gagauz cuisine.
The center also arranges meetings with prominent figures in science, culture, and the arts, as well as academics, politicians, and Turkish businesspeople who may offer employment opportunities. Esteemed guests of the center have included a Nobel laureate and renowned Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, as well as the First Lady of the Republic of Turkey, Emine Erdogan (2017).
